Forney Engineering Company was founded in 1927 by R.H. Forney, aiming to produce oil and gas burners exclusively for electric utilities. In the early 1950s, Forney broadened its scope to encompass the advancement of remote burner control and furnace safety systems. These systems were designed to guarantee the secure and synchronized supply of fuel and air to the burners. By pioneering the application of solid-state electronics technology in burner management systems, Forney achieved a significant milestone in the early 1960s as the first company to successfully integrate this innovation. In 1983, Forney made its entry into the global market by supplying flame detectors, igniters, and burner management systems to fossil-fired power plants in China. During the late 1990s, Forney further diversified its offerings through acquisitions, venturing into duct burners, package burners, and environmental systems.
